have a 89 mk7. keeps stalling out in park. runs fine in drive. any sugestions? thanks for any help.

id start by looking too see if you have a vacuum leak and then check you ignition stuff..

clean the IAC, if it won't idle, that is the most likely cause.
weird thing is it dies when put into park.
That should completely disengage the torque converter, and improve idle (compared to Drive).
Doesn't say what happens in neutral. Lots more info would be helpful.
Does seem transmission related but can't think of anything Park does that might slow idle speed.
