I solved and diagnosed some problems with my car yesterday. I know it's long, but I don't want to be a post hoe ;).

I have been having the clunking nose under the driving side of my car, and I was thinking maybe either sway bar links or suspension bushings. So yesterday, I was driving my car and I hit the brakes and all of a sudden I hear a SCRAAAPPPEE noise, and a loud thumping coming from the same side, and I said to my self "Did the front end fall on my brakes?" Then I turned around and drive the car back home very slow. I get home, jack the car up and take the tire off. I inspect the suspension and it was fine, but I go to inspect the brakes and the caliper was hanging off the rotor . Turns out one of the caliper bolts fell off, and the other one was loose also. (Maybe I didn't torque them all the way :shifty:). Luckily my pads and rotors were still good. So all I had to do was; go the hardware store to match the bolts, put some new steel ones on, and torqued them up real tight. I put everything back together, and test drove the car. Everything was smooth, no noises from the front end. So I solve my front end clunk, dangerously lol.

Problem 2: I not sure if this is the problem why my car vibrates and has low power between 800-1200 rpms, but when I drove my car yesterday after fixing the brakes. I gave it a couple of WOT runs, and after I got back to the house, I noticed a rotten eggs smell coming from the exhaust. Usually a sign of either a clogged cat or bad 02 sensor. Could this cause low power a low rpms?

the brake thing is weird. check the rest of your brakes before something bad happens.
my rotten egg smell was cured with new o2s.

Your 3rd cat may also be clogged. When my '97 LSC got the rotten egg boiling in sulfur smell under WOT, I had the 3rd cat removed and replaced with an H-pipe. Problem solved. I probably still have bad O2 sensors, but can't afford to replace them right now. If it's not an LSC, you'll have to put a Y-pipe in the place of the big cat.

I know, check every part of both brakes to make sure everything was tight, and it was good. I think I was rushing and didn't tighten it all the way through because I was exhausted from trying to get the rusted rotor off the hub.

Could a clogged cat or bad 02 cause low power and vibration at low RPMs. Wierd thing is I didn't throw a code, but I read you wont sometimes

low rpm power loss makes me think of stuck imrc's first.

Hmm good point, but I do hear them open up at 3000rpms, but on occasions they open up slightly delayed.

EDIT: Oh I do have a slight miss when at idle when im ONLY in park. My gas mileage is great though, I get around 29-32 mpgs on rural/highway driving, and about 18 in the city

Seafoam the car. My '93 stumbled in low rpm's til I did the seafoam trick a few times. And odd that the caliper was half on.... I know Rangers are bad for bolts backing out. Might wanna put blue lock tite on em. Sounds like someone didn't service the car correctly on the brakes before you got it.

Yea actually have a bottle of seafoam in the garage, I'll run it through and see what happens.

As far as the brakes, I think it was ME that didnt service them right lol. Im going to put some loctite the the bolts if I have any more problems.

IF your getting really good gas mileage, you don't have a catalytic converter problem. What does your car idle at. IF your imrc's were stuck open, your idle would be atout 2-300 rpm's lower.

I idle around like around 650-700 in gear, and around 750-800 in park. I also have a light diesel ticking sound that's coming from the engine, but I don't know if that's related
