Hi Guys and Gals,
I did it. I pulled the trigger.
With $16,000.00 in incentives (including Ford's A-Plan), $8,000.00 Trade-In for my 2000 Grand Prix GTP and an additional 2 years warranty paid by Ford, I bought it.
It's the Ultimate Package with chrome rims, but without Navigation. But I wanted the NAV. The dealer said to me it was still a 1st gen NAV, not the best. He wanted the sale, so he was willing to let me go to Factory Auto Sound (a factory/dealer authorized aftermarket retalier here in Windsor), to get whatever I wanted. It would be invoiced to the dealer, and it would be covered under warranty.
So I got the Kenwood DDX-6019. It does pretty much everything. 7 inch high resolution display, touch screen display, dvd movies, dvd music, dvd mp3's (put up to 5,000 songs on a dvd to play), am/fm, cd mp3, sirius satellite radio, Navigation, and the opttions executed for T.V., hands free cellphone calling, and High Definition Radio. The system can be controlled by my steering wheel controls.
Here's the specs.
6.95" Wide Double-DIN Indash Monitor DVD/WMA/MP3 Receiver
6.95 inch Wide Color TFT Active Matrix Display
Motorized Slide-down & Reverse Front Panel
Interactive Touchscreen Control with OSD
Audio Easy Control Mode while Playing Visual Source
Selectable Wall Paper (6 Patterns)
Installer/Backup Memory of Audio/Video Setup
Maximum Output Power: 50W x 4 (MOSFET Power IC)
3 Preouts with 2V Pre-out Level tory unit
1 RCA AV Input/1 RCA AV Output
Video Input for Rear View Camera
RGB Input for Navigation System
System Q/System E's+
DVD Menu Direct Touchscreen Control
MPEG 1/2 Video file (.mpg) and JPEG file (.jpg) Playback
Dual Zone Source & Volume Control
DVD±R/RW Compatible
External Media Control — iPod Ready
Optional Bluetooth Hands-Free Unit Ready (KCA-BT100)
Optional TV Tuner (KTC-V300N)
I also had them install the remote start that has a lcd screen for real time info, and a 1/2 mile range. The Kenwood System cost $600.00 less than the Ford stock unit, which didn't do half of what the Kenwood can do. The remote start cost $50.00 less than the factory unit, and has triple the range. They did a great job at Factory Auto Sound. All I have to do though, is add an additional T.V. antenna to amplify the original to boost the signal strength. It was too weak. The extra antenna will make the little snow I have on the screen, go away.
All and all, it's a great ride.
