i just got done replacing the radiator and fresh fluid. now here is my problem, i went to check the antifreeze and there was none that i can see in the fill tube (yes i followed the instructions) and it took an additional gallon of antifreeze. upon checking it i decided to change my oil while i was at it and i found out where all my antifreeze went. now my question is what should i do? sell the car or junk it for parts. the car has 142,000 miles on it. i do have a buyer for it but he dont know about the water in the oil. so guys give some advice. thanks.

You had a gallon of antifreeze in your oil?
How badly did that car overheat before replacing the radiator?

I don't know what options you have. New engine or sell it as a parts car?
There's no mechanic in a can that's going to fix that.

what about the infamous oil filter adapter gasket? could that let that much coolant through? id at least try it, like a $5 part and some swearing but its not too bad. id swap it then (still without oil) id leave the drain plug out add coolant and see if it comes out the hole, if not id say its ok

Coolant got into the oil one way or another. Damage is done.

I would drain the oil very well, fill it up with some cheap crap and empty it again.

This is after replacing the adapter gasket. If you are lucky the car may last another 50k, but if it still runs now it may still run for sometime.

dont know. payed 500 for the car. the old rad separated from the tank and it was leaking on the side.

it depends how long it was ran this way. if it has possibly ran like this for a while they its junk, if not too much, like just idling vs driving then you got a small chance it will be ok.
my old 97 f-150 back in the day had the "front cover recall" (timing cover leaking coolant into the oil) not sure how long it leaked before i did the recall (done when first was released) never leaked enough to notice actual loss of coolant and first drive after doing the recall she had a slight higher rpm knock, stuck it into 1st gear at 40 and made it get worse, pulled back into work and ordered a new eng under warranty :D

I have had it since october never been on the road just idling. i have had the new radiator in it since dec. just noticed it last week.

then id do like unity said after changing the gasket, fill it, id run it for a sec just to get the crap moving then drain and refill

thank you guys very much for the help. if it works then the car will be sold for 2500. once again thanks.
