The headlights are awful on the first gens. Halogen housings hid housing they just flat out don't work. Even with a 55w DDM kit with a relay in the hid housings the output is terrible and the cutoff is laughable.

What are others experiences with the gen one lights?

my 1st gen headlights do just fine. ;)
HID housings.
35w HID lows, 60k halogen highs, 55w HID driving lights behind the grill.

makes PLENTY of light.

I could probably land planes with my lights. HID housings with 6k low and 6k high HIDs

Maybe get your eyes checked, eat more Carrots??

There is also noticeable upward glare without much of a distinct cutoff line.

Love my 5k 35w ddm hid's with hid housings
There better than 90% of cars out there
I think there even a little better than my factory ones in my 97.
Also there shouldn't be a cut off line there not projectors I personly hate 90% of projectors out there.

You're right there all junk, I'll give you $50 for em.

Here is what I'm working with. The passenger side bulb/ballast burnt out tonight so this is with the drivers side+ fog lights on. The picture makes it look brighter then it is. Part of my issue may be the headlight aiming? image.jpg
Btw I have had 3 ddm ballasts burn out but I have had zero issues with the eBay kit used for brights. Glad DDM has the lifetime warranty.

Had my VVME kit in my mark for 2+ years with no problems..always lights, never had any bad bulbs or balasts. Are you using a relay?
