I *ALMOST* went with a Jag S type instead of the lincoln, but it had a ton of miles so I didnt. I love everything about the jag s-type.

My boss owns a '01 Jag XJR and it's nothing short of amazing! It's really fast and really luxurious. I should have gone with the Jag. It's too hard to make the LS fast and it's not nearly as luxurious as the Jag.

My LS is almost paid off. I'm just gonna get it paid off and get an Jag S-type R.
They come stock with almost 400HP. If I added an exhaust and intake, and a few other things, I could pull atleast 430-450HP out of it, no? I know my boss has the big version of the super charged 4.0 and it's very fast.

I am still going to get rim's for my LS though, cause those will actually fit the Jag when it's time to switch them. Theres just no way to make the LS what I want it to be. I have already dumped 1,500 or so into my LS. So after the rims I'm calling it quits. =\

Dont blame you. Ive been looking at those too, by the time you modify the LS to have the 400HP, you might as well get the Type-R used for $28K and have it as a factory setup.

I LOVE THE JAGS!
It's like riding in a F'ing spaceship. There is *ZERO* road noise, they handle great. I love the looks of them. And they are fast.

The only car that I have driven that was nicer is the Lexus GS400. But the Jag is way faster and was better looking inside. Plus the Jag's are cheaper.

s type is a nice car. as far as road manners go I hope you are not basing on your XJR experience. The S-type is built on the ls platform so don't expect it to be any quieter (other than new cars in general are quieter than used). Also, Type R suspension is bound to be SUPER stiff so I wouldn't expect it to ride any nicer than your LS either. S-types are VERY nice though!

My grandma has an XKR convertible. She says it is very nice but does have some reliability issues. I'm not sure what but I think the engine has some of the same problems the LS does (coils). She said the brakes were very expensive, and the interior is starting to rattle. She bought the car brand new 2 years ago and I don't know how many miles she has but I wouldn't figure it to be very many. Also she lives near LA so that might have some effect on the wear and tear on the car.

Well I drove the S-type (non s/c) and it seriously amazing.
I have also driven the XJR S/C and it too, was amazing and really fast(390HP)

There is no way I'm going to ever pull that much HP out of my LS, so why bother. Even if quik does get the s/c kit together, I still wont pull 400HP outta the LS.

I want, and have always wanted fast + luxury. The LS just isnt really there. Close, but not really. Not great on the inside, and the speed is a bit slow for a V8. Even though it is a really small V8

One other thing, I looked and looked for a forum like this, only for Jag's and I cant find anything. I found Jag forums, but it wasnt like this one. It wasnt about performance and mod's. It was very boring. Anyone know of a good one? I'd like to see what some Jag owners say about mods...

Jaguar builds Jaguars; Lincoln does not, and Ford can only be said to do so by virtue of the fact that Jaguar Cars is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ford. The S-Type (the only Jag with any appreciable Lincoln commonality), XJ, and XK are assembled by Jaguar at Castle Bromwich, Birmingham, UK ( http://www.jaguar.com.au/uk/en/company/careers/locations/castle_bromwich.htm ).

As LincolnTech pointed out, that Jaguarness and an unfavorable pound to dollar exchange rate are going to result in expensive repairs, so set aside some money. If you think Lincoln parts and repairs are expensive, wait until you have to deal with parts imported from the UK...

But the Jag's are soooo much nicer than the LS's, it's worth it.

I would love a Jag XJ8 I believe, you know the BIG sedan. But damn, they are pricey and there is better things to waste money on. Good luck when and if you get one :).

Thats the kind my boss has, only he has the type R kind, it's supercharged with 390HP, it's very nice...

S type R's have blistering performance. 4.7 0-60 I believe. I also think that they get horrid gas mileage. My friend's 2001 S type 4.0 got about 12 in the city, I can imagine the R getting less. I was also toying with the idea of getting one, but the idea of repairing that car once it was out of warranty scared me.

I guess i can chime in here. I work at a Jaguar dealership and take care of the inventory. I have drove thousands of jaguars for over 2 years now. In october i bought my LS. Let me tell you my boss had more than enough offers on s-types but i never wanted one. My first reason is they audio in most jaguars suck! Unless you have a very new s,xj,or xk with the updated alpine they simply dont touch my THX system. For all the time i have been here i have never seen any jaguar with performance mods other than intake. Its pointless especially if you get the select edition warranty. Jag v8's in i believe 06 went to a 4.2 L which is significally faster than an v8 LS but as for the 4.0's i would rather have my 3.9. road noise and the ride in an xj is incredible also. Well thats my little chime in if ya have any questions let me know.

Repair costs = rediculous on Jags which are notorious for problems
$1500 on your LS? Did you purchase a warranty/extended warranty?
I'm sure there is no forums like this for Jags because most people that buy a Jaguar aren't going to put anything in to it. My best friend has 2 xj6's, 3 months ago he dropped $1800 for a wheel bearing + blower motor repair, and $950 for new brakes + rotors, LOL? And those prices are from a friend who has repaired their family's Jags for years.

If Jag is supposed to be the step up from Lincoln, why does Jag not offer cooled seats and a better audio system? I would seriously consider an XJ if those options were available.
