But I did not. Its not often I learn something new about the great VIII so when I do, I get excited! LOL

Apparently my 96 has a brake light out warning feature. I did not know this, at all. I knew the 97-98s did, but not the 96. It does not specifically say brake light either, just "check exterior lights".

Just had to share :)

Oh, and I found out when I took out my tails lights so I could clay-bar the car. I forgot to hook one back up and headlights were off.

Yep. When you do the self test, it normally says "exterior lights ok if on" and when mine went out it let me know as well. You took your brake lights off to clay bar it? You must really into the details. I clayed mine recently, but didn't remove anything. Love the smoothness, now I just need to do something about the cracking/fading clearcoat.

On the 93 to 96 I thought the test was just for headlights, not brake lights. But I guess it makes sense otherwise it would have said "headlights ok if on".

This has helped me a couple times and I'm sure that has keep me from being pulled over at least once by our local police officer. Its a great feature.

Even the '93s had it. I had a tail light go out when a high-pressure car wash blast shorted the bulb. (Somehow the bulb had a hole in it already, or the car wash put it there...) The only clue I had was when in the middle of the wash, the message center told me to check the lights. Such an awesome car, that it makes sure we have one less reason to get pulled over eh? I had only about 5 miles tops to worry about getting caught before I got to the nearest parts store.
