How to remove the cover for the side mirror

Is the cover that covers the side-view mirror part of the interior door panel? Or can it be removed separately?

I'm just failing at finding it.

You will have to remove the door panel to get at the 3 bolts from the inside and that will allow you to take the entire mirror off, then you can unscrew the mirror internals from the housing. That should be about it. Also be careful of the wiring harness.

Great. Guess I'll go pick up the plastic inserts that inevitably break or never go back on right.

Plastic inserts? Are you talking about the plastic door clips? Some break but most make it from my experience.
