The crossover tube is seized on I've tried a wrench and vice grips and it just starts to tear into the metal either way. So when I refilled my coolant after replacing a hose I did it through the upper hose and resevoir. But I was just wondering how often the fluid in the resevoir gets changed out?

As long as you filled thru the upper hose you should be ok. No circulation happens in the reservoir. Only fill thru the fill plug. You can top up the reservoir but dont fill thru there - ask me I know; you will overheat Ford did it to me once and I did it to myself once.

Take your car to a shop and have them weld a nut on the top of the x over tube cap if you want it off.
