I have recently purchased a 2001 lincoln ls sport. It rides nice but over bumps and uneven road i hear "worn ball joint" sound like rattling/clicking. I think its my ball joints. And i wonder if I do have some in the back if they need to be changed to. The car has 208,000km.... How many do I have if I do need replacement. I have also been reading on broken hubs, possible? how can i tell. recently just purchased a new set of 17" alloy wheels for my car aswell stock size but a all season more of a summer tire on it. Got it put on at some little gas/shop station. He said they were balanced Never saw it. Just showed me the wheels off the car. Slapped em on and Tightened the lugs. Think he broke my hubs? thanks guys. much appreciated.

I believe there are eight total. Upper and lower at each corner.

The uppers are included with the upper control arm when you go to replace them. Ford parts will have the lower ball joints coming with the steering knuckle at a hefty price. Word on here is that Moog ball joints can be pressed into the stock steeering knuckle no problem.

I'd make sure that they are your balljoints. and replace in pairs left and right. Just because the fronts are bad doesn't mean the rears are. Estimate about 4-$500 in parts for the fronts alone.

Terms of a tune ups, check the fluids and make sure everything is buttoned down under there. Was always told that whenever you buy a new car to have all the fluids changed/flushed since you don't know the maintenance history prior. Only problem is that this could get expensive if you're not doing it yourself.

Noise up front could be lower ball joints but also could be swaybar bushings. Very common.

^+1 ....9 times out of 10 its swaybar bushings (along with swaybar links). VERY common expecially with those miles. cheap fix but, a PITA to fix... search around, plenty of threads on it...Good luck
