Having charging problems on my 94. Thought it was the battery, but during testing, the alt. was only pushing 75amps. Is this low, sounds like it to me.

That is low indeed. My 94's alternator tested at 90 amps at 2000rpm, then it died about 3 months after that test.

An alternator should put out 90% of its total capacity at idle. Doesnt really answer your question, but just a good tidbit of info.

Swap to the 130A alternator and a Motorcraft 850 crank battery. That should solve your problem...

Has stock alt. 120? and motorcraft 850 battery, but I don't know how old it is. Last 2 weeks it hasn't held a charge for a week, while I'm gone in the semi. I'll replace the battery just because, but don't want to work the new battery with a junk alt. Might not hurt the new battery, but why chance it.

You could have lots of things going on when you leave it set. Like leaking air bags that cause the compressor to come on and kill your battery. You can take it to an Advance store and they have a test machine that they wheel out to your car and can anaylize both the battery and alternator out put to see if you also have something more going on. I'd do this while also checking the air bags by turning the trunk switch to off to see if they leak.

I took it to Advance, that is how I know the amps @2000. The front bags do leak down overnight, but I thought it went into sleep mode, after a few hrs? It just started not starting, (cold weather) and the bags have been leaking since I bought it.

Got your message, sorry I didn't have a chance to call back in a timely manner. I have my in-laws coming in from Estonia and I am going nuts!! LOL!! Call me up if you want a good deal on a 130amp OEM alternator. Yours is shot by the way.
