hey guys im new to all this, how do i replace my upper timing chain TENSIONER on the drivers side.
i know you take off the valve cover but do i need any special tools or anything.
thanks my name is Brandon.

Brandon,
Look up the threads that talk about doing the full change and just concentrate on the parts about the driver's head. You can also do some general internet searches and find folks that talk about this for the Jags (AJ V8) as this was a common problem for the early engines.

They aren't required, but make it much easier. Christopher's on eBay rents the tools. There's three:
1) crank pulley puller - much quicker and easier than a generic puller - n/a since you're not removing the timing cover
2) cam alignment tool - alum block that bolts to the heads and holds the cams in place via the flats ground into them. Can accomplish this manually, make your own, some guys have used huge wrenches, etc.
3) cam holder - big wrench with a special head that holds the cam in place so you can tighten the sprocket. If you have the cam solidly locked in place via another means, then you may not need this.
