It's a bit hot in Bakersfield today. About 100 to be exact. I have a KKM intake on my V6. Could the hot weather be affecting my acceleration? It's really bad off the line more than anything. Is it possible that the KKM is hurting performance in hot weather?

Heat-soaked most likely, happens to me here in Austin. I need to get a heat-shield here soon or just switch the K&N that has a heat-shield in the kit.

I think the V6 is whats affecting your acceleration :p

FLA02LS, man your back on LVC. Have not seen a post from you in awhile. Everytime your post I giggle, you are a funny man. I was in Orlando not too long ago and saw a black Lincoln LS with a Hillary Clinton sticker on the bumper was that you? Time to grab another beer.

There are like a bazillion LS's here in Orlando. Twilight zone experience not too long ago where the road was empty except for three LS's, one of them mine, sitting at a red light all lined up. I can assure you i wouldnt have a bumper sticker within a mile of my car but i'm sure plenty of the old farts around here have them. I felt good about my LS though when a much younger guy paid me big props on the car while at the grocery store. Then i feel like an old fart myself that same day when i saw a kid wearing a high school football shirt for the school i attended, i mentioned to him that i graduated from that school in '93...his response, "Oh i was born in 1993". Nice :(

Well... I know how you feel. lol. Considering I live here as well. Its heat soak... and having the AC doesn't help either.

here is an inexpensive heat shield that keeps the low speed heat soak down. It is made from foam insulation from hardware store. I has lasted over two years now. Before shield the metal on the KKM filter was too hot to touch, after the metal is cool.

cute.

I get my kicks in my '66 454

I thought it was kinda funny, but i feel you on the heat issue. Its not 100 here in Florida but the car showed it being 94 today and in traffic on the highway the LS drove like crap. I went to switch lanes and i punched the pedal and the car did NOTHING....a good three second lag before it got its power going. Pretty much for the next 3 months or so i'll get to enjoy crappy daytime performance. Its amazing how much better it runs at night compared to daytime and i'm sure the humidity down here doesnt help much either. Oh well, atleast i dont have to worry about winter tires or washing off salt stains.

Three second delay in power? There is something wrong. Heat alone does not cause a three second delay in power. I lived most of my life in Phoenix AZ and never had a car show that much power loss, even in 120 degree weather. I have also driven my LSE in 90+ degree weather in southern GA in high humidity and not experienced that much power loss. Perhaps a temp sensor is not working right.

Hey FLA02LS, You feeling old because you graduated in '93, How about '77. Great year for concerts back then. Yes, Peter Frampton, Zep, Black Sabbath the list goes on, at least from what I remember.
