Ok, I know it's winter and I have been using my remote start alot and considering the other factors that come with bad gas mileage during the winter but seriously. I have an 05 LS6 and barely get over 200 miles on a tank! I changed my fuel filter a couple months ago not long after I bought this car. I have no clue why it would be getting this horrible of gas mileage. The car runs fine and I don't ever get all the way in it or anything dumb like that. I had some tranny work done under warranty about a month ago now... Does the car need to have the reset deal done like another post I read on here recently or something? Ideas PLEASE!? Thanks!

Youre idling the car too much.

remote start makes it super easy to idle the car for 10-15 min. Do this everday and well you get lower and lower mpg.

A buddy of mine told me this same thing, but I can't imagne my gas mileage being that bad... How many miles on average do you other LS6 owners get on a tank of gas?

if you waste a gallon at idle and a gallon on the streets with a 17mpg average, your shown average will be 8.5 mpg. Leaving your car at idle everyday for 10-15 minutes will definitely kill your shown mpg. Try not idling like you have been and fill up again to see how it affects your miles at a full tank.

Well I can tell you this, I idle my truck for 10-15 minutes every morning.. I drive to school (like 2 miles), come home for lunch, and drive home.. So that's 12 miles a day.. I can go 2 weeks on 20 bucks and my Ranger doesn't get that good of mileage..

I think that's about right for the conditions that you indicate. Assuming that there are still about two gallons in the tank when you refill, that's 12.5 MPG.

Cold engines drink several times as much gas as hot ones.
An engine will warm up pretty quickly when you are driving. It will warm up pretty slowly when just idling. A hot idling engine doesn't use much gas. A cold idling one does.
Winter gas gives lower mileage.

Warming the car up with remote start is good for you, but it is actually somewhat bad for the car.

I let mine idle for 5-10 minutes when it's frosted over and it's been that way for well over a week and only lost about 1MPG on my v6.

V8 will suck much more mpg than the V6.

Im getting 15.8mpg right now.

It helps if you actually calculate your fuel economy, since a "tank" of gas is going to vary every time you fill up. Spend the extra 10 seconds to do the math and it will be a much better indication of what is going on.

The OP has a Gen2 v6. Gen1(gen2 also I guess) v6 doesn't have on board MPG calc so I always do the math.

My 04 LS6 averages between 19 and 20 mpg, all city driving. I have gotten as much as 27 mpg for an all-highway tank and as little as 16 while I was romping on it for the week.

I calculate my mileage with every tank.

Not true. My V8s get within 1.5mpg of the V6. That was a factor for me getting the V8 for my daily driver. On my commute (24 miles ~85% hilly freeway and some traffic) I got just over 20mpg in the V6 and just under 20mpg in the V8. IIRC, the EPA was 18/25 for the 6 and 17/24 for the V8. I have achieved over 28mpg doing ~80 on flat freeway. My lead-footed wife is getting just under 17mpg (~16.9) with all city driving.

All women are like that.. :shifty: lol

Right ShortCircuitLS.. :p

HA! She doesn't understand the concept of coasting up to a red light. My daughter, on the other hand, understands perfectly. She even chides my wife about her gas or brake driving! HA!
