Ok guys i bought a set of HIDs 9005s to put in my hi beam openings and they fit perfect everything is hooked up as instructions show, but they no worky. Is there something special that I must do to get them to work? The regular hi beam headlights work fine. My Mark VIII is a 1996 with the HID low beams if that helps any.
PS: I am I the only one that thinks Lincoln screwed up by just putting in the HID lows and not the highs? I hate when companys half ass their work. LOL

No company has HIDs for high-beams. You may find out why, make sure your airbag restraints are working :)

Anyway, if it was a plug and play setup like the one I bough where you have to clip-in the wires to the connectors (slid-in) then make sure you have the polarity right.

Were your low beams factory HID?

no the factory high beams were plain jane and sucked, and yes i know the factory used 9005 for high beams. what a waste. LOL

They used halogen bulbs in the high beams for a reason. Maybe you hooked the connector up backwards? Make sure the ballast has a good ground. You know, when you go to hit your high beams they are going to take about 5 seconds to warm up. It will not be an instant thing like the halogens are.

They do have bi-xenon, they cost more though. I don't think it was an option in 1995 1/2 though. Wouldn't work on the mark anyways because of the two separate bulbs.

Yes, some new cars do have bi-xenon.

yea... when someone "needs" high beams they really dont want to "wait for them to ignite and warm up"..which is why ford didn't put HIDs in the high beams.

Also the "flash to pass" function is "bad news" for a HID light.

And.. the worst thing other than "moisture" for an HID bulb is a "hot restrike"..which is another reason they aren't in the high beams.

granted... newer import cars MIGHT do this, that doesnt mean it's an option for the Mark 8.

I have checked the polarity and yes they are plugged up correctly, one of my best friends runs a stereo shop and puts them in all the time and he doesnt know what the deal is either. But I have not grounded the ballast boxes it doesnt show that in the instructions anywhere, but I will be trying that. I figured they needed to be grounded just like the old neon carriage lights back in the day. We really didnt have much time to work on it as I was on my way to work thats why I asked you guys for a lil help. Has anyone else done this same setup?

PS He has dual beam HIDs in his 2004 Ford Lightning, and 2000 Ford Excursion. Funny thing is when he hits the high beams the bulb has a actuator that moves the bulb backwards. We didnt believe it till we seen it.

Use a voltmeter. If the guy has a stereo shop, thats the first thing he should have done when they did not work.

I did use a volt meter still not working I believe I got shipped 2 crap ballasts or bulbs I will check them out again this weekend when I get time. Thanks for the help.

Were you getting any power on the volt meter? Remember that the ballast to HID wire will be AC current, not 12 volt DC.

i can help you locate the problem pm me if you want my #. i have a special harness for a xenon 4 high system.

fixed the problem the boxes needed to be grounded and whala they work! and boy are they are ridiculously bright!!!!
