i searched and read many threads but i didn't see the answer to this question. If you have factory hids do you have to buy a kit for different hids or just the bulb?

Just make sure it's a d2r bulb, I think a d2c work too. I think d2c if a replacement part for both d2r and d2s bulbs. I just picked up a pair of d2r bulbs from ddm tunning for about 13 bucks plus shipping.

Do they look any brighter??

I just bought 5k to get the whiter look. The angel eyes made the stock color look more yellow, plus my fogs are 5k too.

Yeah about the bulbs.

Its good to know for when my stock bulbs go out.

Oh I got the same type of bulb, just differet color. My old bulbs were oem bulbs so maybe those put out more light becase they're better quality, I wouldn't really know. They are close to the output. I got ddm d2r bulbs once before. I got 4700k but they were too blue for some reason, maybe I got the wrong ones. The light output on those compared to stock did go down so I switched back to stock bulbs until now.

When you go to a whiter bulb, it's going to seem light you loose light output.. Your eyes play tricks at night and yellower is going to seem brighter

Well ive found some people saying they feel like 5K is a tad brighter compared to 4300K.

There is a difference between how bright something is and how much light it puts out. I know it seems like the same but it's not. The angel eye's LED are super bright. One time at night I closed my car while staring at it. The angel eyes flashed with the amber bulbs and it hurt, it bilnded me for a second. At night the angel eyes are too bright, but they dont output a lot of light because you can't see or drive with only them on.

So black06ls, when you say the white lights seems brighter, do you mean puts out more visible lights or since it's whiter it looks brighter and not as dim as oem hids?

Yeah i know that.

Like the led fogs from v-leds are brighter, but they dont put out as much light as the stock halogens. Thats what i was talking about earlier in another thread about the throw of the leds being low because theyre low power leds vs having a single higher power led in the fogs that would throw more.
