I am in the middle of taking off my valve covers to change out my gaskets. On the LH drivers side, there is a hose in the way of me getting my valve cover off. I think it's the fuel line, how do I remove this?

There is a special tool for taking off those kinds of hoses. There should be a picture of it probably in the tech article regarding VCG replacement. You can get one at like autozone for maybe $10-15 or less.

Yeah you can probably do it without removing the fuel line but it is WAY easier if it is disconnected.

Is he talking about the one with 'the silver disc'? That's a fuel line.. They make a disconnect tool for it.. I paid 6 bucks for mine

Yeah he is. Haha, when I did mine the first time I couldn't figure out how to use the tool for the fuel line and when I finally got it I felt sooo stupid because it was sooo easy.

THATS IT! I have the fuel line disconnecter for my fuel filter line, would that work? I don't want to break anything here lol. I started at 12 noon, and now its 816 pm here. Im no pro, but it's getting done! I cleaned the passenger valve cover with degreaser, and now it's like brand new! Im about to install it soon, but I wanna get the drivers side off!

You just push the tool in the side that is toward the intake.. Make sure you insert the beveled edge of the tool in.. Once you push it in, pull on the line.. Have a towel to catch the lost fuel.. :)

I have 3/8 full line disconnector. I get it in, and im pulling but its not coming out :( The tool works on my fuel filter line, but this is tough!

Do I need a different size? If so, what size?

Thanks guys! I got the 1/2 and it worked. A little fuel fell into the valve creaks with the spark plugs out...is that ok? My reflexes are very poor, so I didn't get the towel in time.

I forgot the bolt pattern I was suppose to put these in! UGH!

You do the criss-cross method starting with the lower near the front then the upper in the rear and you work your way to the middle..

The fuel should be fine

Thanks for your help Fast. Which bolt starts off at lower near the front?

This is for the passenger side. The drivers side, I did it right...I took off the bolts and layed them out according to which hole. The passenger is the only one I need to get right. FML! It's 11 pm and im no where close :(

I thought that you were talking about the tightening sequence.. The two with the studs have to go where the injector harness is.. The rest should be the same IIRC

FML! I just snapped a bolt on the LH valve cover while tightening with a wrench. :( It won't catch anymore so I concluded it snapped in. FML...this is just not my day. Anyone got any advice what to do? I already have all the others bolted on.

Well if you actually snapped a bolt you probably have that top part in your hand right now! If not then maybe you stripped it? Is it something you could get at with a pliers to turn it out by hand?

Here's the answer that you don't want.

Take the valve cover back off.

Remove the bottom half of the bolt if it snapped, and replace it with a new bolt (maybe you should get all new bolts).

-or-

Remove the whole bolt if not snapped. Re-tap the bolt hole. Get new bolt(s).

Then, use a torque wrench this time when you reassemble. (Even if you don't snap another bolt, putting them too tight will cause leaking too.)

I don't have a torque wrench, where can I get one of those?

Is it ok to re use the gasket cover after I just sealed it?
