Help! Right door handle just broke!

Am I the only one on this site who hasn't broken a door handel LOL

Drivers door broke in 01 or 02 what a job it was getting it all back in and working. Hopefully with just this and no electronics it will not be so difficult. If I can get one already painted out of a wrecked car I would prefer.

knoc on wood mine are good.......before I got the blue 94 the guy replaced them with conti handles.....not sure if they're any better....they're chrome tho

i bought mine with a busted handle....lol

i have the spare housing and cracked handle...supposably you can fix it but i just bought a used one.

I haven't broken a handle, but I am very careful. I use the handle to unlatch the door, and then I pull it open with the top of the door frame.

i bought my Mark with a semi broken drivers side handle. it still works, but you need to be very careful how you pull on it.
I managed to get one off a Mark VIII in the boneyard. it took me 3 hrs of profuse sweating, swearing and loss of blood and skin to get the dam thing off.
Im going to leave the installation of the replacement handle to a bodyshop.

how do all you people have so many problems replacing door handles I think it is an easy job as does markviiiedrea

Mine are unbroken but I'm real careful. Like KK's idea......but it's probably just a matter of time...

Exactly ... it's reminding my wife in the winter to do the same thing...

But back to topic on eBay they have them some new ones for Conti's that may work. I'm sure the Conti handles work on a Mark VIII

Oh and my spare handle is for the Driver's side which is the weak one on my 94 and 95...

my driverside broke a couple years ago, door wasnt frozen either. i went out and started the car (door opened fine) and when i went to leave, pop! its just a matter of time.

Did mine about 5 months ago, passenger side-the newer handles are more expensive ($60 vs $40 new), and the counterweight is molded instead of bolted, so you will learn or invent new swear words when you put it together. It is a PITA job, take (or allow) time to do it.

Please send a step by step. Do you remove or loosen the door lock at the end of the door? I had to on the drivers side to get it to line up.

what do you mean by the door lock a the end of the door do you mean the lock cylinder cause I take that out 2nd on the drivers side

No, not the keyhole lock, there is like three or maybe four big Phillips screw heads that hold / line up the way the door strikes the bar on the fixed opening. I ended up loosing that on the drivers side it took a lot of cussing and time to get that drivers side done. Yes the price has almost doubled since I last bought it. I paid like $35 at the dealer in Marble Falls and then the body shop painted it at no charge.I will try this duplicolor spray in a can on this one.

no I dont move the latch
tools I used were
1. 3/8 ratchet
2. 11mm socket
3. 6" extension
4. u joint
5. long flat screw driver
6. a hook pic or allen wrench works
7. and a 8mm i think for the door panel and window track
you wont need the u joint if you have the molded counter weight handles
