Hello, I recently replaced my clockspring to fix my controls/airbag. I got the old unit out and the new one in ok, but after re-installing the airbag my horn button is a little off. Does anyone know how the springs for the horn switch are supposed to be installed? Right now I have the long ones on top and the shorter, stiffer ones on the bottom. Is this right? Also how tight are u supposed to tighten the screws that hold the springs in place? Im glad my steering wheel works now, but i wish my horn had its old feeling back. Thanks in advance for any help.
Chris,

You may have the springs reversed. IIRC, the long ones go on the bottom.

Thanks Ken. I knew i could count on you or Quik to help me out. How tight should the screws be? Just enough to hold the assembly in place, but not tense the springs?

Thanks again. Got my steering wheel back how I like it. But after driving the car for 20 min the check engine light come on. There's no way I could have caused this to happen by working on the steering wheel/clockspring is there?

actually when i took mine apart to fix my clockspring today, i noticed my spring were alternating strangly, the top left had a shorter spring, top right had a longer spring, bottom left had a longer spring, and the bottom right had a shorter spring, is this correct or did someone take my steering wheel off the wrong way before??
