Thats a common issue of the LS.

Relplace the the thermostat and thermostat housing along with a coolant flush and fill. Use motorcraft coolant if possible.

Don't waste your time with that.

The plastic parts of the cooling system have cracked. They'll have to be replaced. At a minimum, you need the coolant outlet pipe and thermostat housing. If you are smart and don't want to go through this again next month, you need to also replace the two main radiator hoses (both have big plastic sections) and the degas bottle.

You should never continue to drive an overheating car till it goes into failsafe mode. That's a good way to ruin an engine.

Cars don't spray coolant just because they are overheating. They only do it if there is a leak. A leak will cause overheating. (Yes, they can vent coolant from the degas cap pressure relief, but that's no where near the front of the engine.)

Can auto-zone get all the parts i need? and what is the price range? i got about 300 that i can spend from this check.

Best prices are from Max at five star auto (ad to the right). Find out exactly which part that need fixing immediately so you can drive. None of these parts are over $300 alone so you are okay. In fact you should be able to get 2 or 3 of them. I suggest to fix the issue at hand so you can drive, then next check get the rest of the parts.

I've been procrastinating the lower hose and degas bottle, shame on me.

Also, I had zero luck at autozone. They couldnt even find a part number for the upper radiator hose. And if IIRC they had a very hard time with the coolant outlet pipe. Ended up at dealer for both.
