My car came with the original standard 4 speaker setup. However I noticed that there are cutouts in the metal where stock subs would mount onto in the rear deck, but there is carpet covering it up on the top side. Has anyone been able to utilize these cutouts with a clean looking outcome? Thanks.

The way Ford counts, you actually have 8 speakers; two per door. That said, I cut out the carpet and sound deadening, put some Pioneer 4-ways in that cavity and covered the holes with some auto upholstery carpet years ago. I believe I posted the results here years ago. I will look and see if I have any pictures of the final product. I know I have no pictures of the work in progress.

If you "do" have 6x9 sitting in the rear deck, your gonna have "fun" getting them out...(depending year LS).:slam
But, If you "don't" have any 6x9 sitting in there right now...your a luckier sob then me... 
For me I didn't like that specific speaker location for a speaker producing any frequencies (sub 125hz) due to possibly
being "drowined-out" when and "if" you plan to install a Subwoofer in the trunk. But heck, you plan to use it as "rear-
fill" mid-to-mid-range frequency as fill ?? -Perfect. Disregard all info below, if you do not plan on adding additional lowend...
Because...In my opinion (my opinion only) if you did put some bass in your trunk...Imagine your now booming bass...:Bang
Do you really think that when someone sits "specifically" in the back seats that they will feel or hear any low frequency
from the 6x9's when the sub-bass is "drowning" any midbass frequency from the rear deck 6x9?? Of course not...That's
why I'd go with a Mid-to Mid-range as a Rear fill or to fill out the spectrum...But, that's me and one opinion (out thousands)...
It all depends on what you "finally" want your stereo to sound like -or- in this case, what "you" want your rear seat passenger's
to hear -or- not hear, it's you and yours.
For my LS audio, it's impossible for me (the driver) or any front passenger to hear any frequency coming from the rear
seating area because of the type of music I listen to (which is important) is completely filled (from ankle to ear level) with
SPL Highs to Mid-bass to SPL Midranges to Highend tweets bouncing off the front glass.
But...It's all about what you want in the end...
