Could someone please post up a step by step guide on how to change the spark plugs and wires. if it makes any difference i have a 97 Mark.

first off you don't have wires!

all you have to do is remove those cover on the valve covers. They are held in by two bolts. You will also have to remove the air intake tube on the passenger side to get to the rear spark plugs (and take the cover off). You'll need an extension to get the spark plugs out because the sit deep in the head. That's about it. Just that simple! Make sure when you put the covers back on that you don't crimp the wires going to the coils. Be careful to route them in the grooves on the head. Hope this helps.

Some precautions you need to take are: Engine MUST be stone cold i.e. 1st thing in the a.m. (This is to help prevent tearing the threads out of the head.) Use anti sieze on the plug threads when reinstalling them. Use dialectric grease on all of the electrical connections when reinstalling. BE AWARE that the insulators on the coils/sparkplugs are really pretty fragile and any bending, squeezing can cause a weak spot in them that can cause an engine miss. Be gentle with them.

Its not a hard job, you've just got to be carefull with the aluminum heads.
