Hello all. I have an 04 LS with V8, just bought it in Jan 08. Some questions about the heater operation.

Here's the story; the heating system was doing strange things a few weeks back. Just a few examples: Practically no air flow to floor vents. It would eventually get warm, then get cold - set heat to 90 degrees it would get warm again. Lower to 75, it would get freezing. Turn it on "auto" and the A/C would come on. Seemed to have a mind of its own. So I took it to dealer.

They replaced a directional valve and replaced the entire control assembly (all the buttons and the display/readout in the dash). As I drove it home (32 degrees outside), I set it at 72 degrees and "auto." Temp now works fine, stayed stable. But there was not much flow to the floor vents, so I went to manual control and set to "floor." Air flow did not change much. Set it back to "auto" and the fan speed increased and the light above the A/C button came on.

So (here are the questions)... 1) Do these cars typically not supply massive quantities of air to the floor? 2) Is that A/C light supposed to come on; could it possibly be that it tells the compressor to come on so the air is dried and the windows don't fog up? (I had a TBird that did this).

Thanks for reading all of this.
