Ok so I no my a/c compressor doesn't work getting it fixed this week but does this mean I can't use my heat? I no its a stupid question but you know how weird the ls can be...

Of course you can use your heat. Turning the climate control on will turn the compressor clutch on if the refrigerant system is pressurized. If that's the case, you may want to unplug the connector at the AC clutch (or you can hit the AC button).

Note that if the A/C compressor is going bad, you need to go to any lengths necessary to prevent the clutch from engaging. If it engages when it's out of oil, out of coolant, or just jacked up, it can eat itself and send metal particulates throughout the entire system. That then necessitates a SIGNIFICANT expense to correct. If you don't fix it properly, then any new compressor will quickly fail from the contaminants.

Strongly recommend disconnecting the clutch wire on the side of the compressor until you get it sorted out.

If the A/C is out of freon, the low limit switch will not allow the compressor to turn on unless there is a short in the switch. If the compressor is making weird sounds, you should unplug it because of the mechanical damage as someone else stated.

If your compressor was bad and filled your system with metal, it must be flushed out with solvent and replace the expansion valve or orifice tube/accumulator otherwise the new compressor will fail from contaminants.

Some of the biggest issues with A/C is networking through the ECM, and the A/C is disabled due to electrical issues. This can be difficult to diagnose and sometimes expensive. I learned this in college and I am currently ASE Certified.

The computer will turn off the A/C compressor when you are accelerating to conserve power and aid in fuel economy, that is why the ECM is involved with the A/C compressor. There is also a (clamping) diode to prevent a spike of electricity from frying the computer.
