Im looking to get the Avic F900BT, and i saw some of you guys have the same if not similar head unit in your cars. Crutchfield.com is telling me that this does not fit in my car but i do not believe it to be true. Could you tell me if it fits, and where i can get the new face plate and harness etc. to make it work in my car. Thanks

Doesn't fit..

:D

my point exactly...does everyone like this head unit, my main points for getting it are for the nav and the direct ipod hook up, and a 5.8" touchscreen sounds bad@$$

Also, to save me money i would be happy to just hook up a sub and have my ipod hook up directly to my head unit, are there ways to do this on the stock head unit. I want to make sure if i do a sub i do it right not just wire it through speaker wires or something sloppy like that.

my F900bt fit, very close but it fit, sometimes you just got to spit on it and cram it in there!

i would slide on over to avic411.com for more info on what people think, the F's really have some neat features and the price can not be beaten, but it also has a few draw backs and some people prefer the D-series like what NYC has

hey NYC, you need a splash screen that is a little more zoomed in (bigger Emblem) there are quite a few at avic411/F-series/graphic design/splash pics (not an actual link, but you get the picture)

I know, but this was far better than what was on there stock. :D

true that, i've got pretty much the same one, but it takes up the whole screen. they even have one that would match your wood grain

hows the XM treating you?

It's cool. Haven't listened to regular radio since. And the Nav Traffic thing is cool too, alebit a little annoying at times. Next I gotta do the Bluetooth module. :)

thanks im debating now cus i thought i could get a better deal on the head unit...so im thinking maybe just a sub...and like i said wondering if theres a way to hook up an ipod to the stock head unit

I have the F90 in my car. I love it a lot for what it can do. I'm going to be honest, there are some glitches in the F Series units. It's just Pioneer let this one out of the bag too soon. I haven't had a problem with mine and I've had it since last October. How much are you looking to spend on a new unit? If you do a search you find some threads where I posted pics of my install.

i have a few places to get it one place i can get one that was in a car for 2 weeks for 700 and some sites claim 560-650 depending which site...but i think some may be refurbished...id rather find a way to make it all work on the stock head unit but i am really interested in having the f900, plus id have to buy the faceplate and accessories on top of that

i have the f 90 as well it sounds great and the only issue i have had is sometimes i have to unhook my ipod and hook it back up for it to work, other than that it has worked flawlessly and the steering wheel controls are very responsive

i got my 900 for $530 shipped from 6th ave while they where having a sale

I had the Avic D series and loved it. Worked fine, Ipod control was crappy, XM Navtraffic was so so.

I now have the Avic F. Had it since last fall. Ipod control and voice recognition is great. At least 5-6 times per week when I turn the car on the F90 doesnt recognize that I have the Ipod connected. Unplugging the Ipod then reconnecting it usually solves the issue for that drive. Also, more often than not, I get Ipod sound only on the passenger side of the car. It may come back to the drivers side, may not. Its not a loose connection or bad cable. Many others on Avic411.com have the same Ipod issues I report. Also, no XM Navtraffic with the F90. Its MSN Direct. Old traffic info, gas station info and movie info is sketchy at best. I canccelled after the 90 days.

Other than Ipod functionality issues and MSN direct, its a decent unit for the price. Oh..one other step back. With the Avic D3, you can customize your boot up(splash) screen AND your background. You can only customize the splash on the F90, not the full time background.

Oh yeah...lots of phones dont work well (especially transferring contacts) with the F90. Its hit or miss often.

my contacts would not transfer over (nextel i880), sombody on avic411 made software to edit (or create) a phonebook .db file, so i was able to make my own contact list in the order that i wanted
