Hey all, I've been searching through the forums for a few weeks now, and have come to the conclusion my servo bore has been worn out. I am a mechanic and have changed transmissions before etc, but I can't see a way to get to the top bolts, bolting the trans to the engine. I am installing the new servos with the o rings but need to drop the trans all the way out I guess. I have everything disconnected except the 6 bolts going across the top of the bell housing :/ any advice on how to get to them from someone who has removed the transmission in an ls?

2002 LS 3.9 I could not find any place that talks about removing the transmission on here, so I made this thread, if thereis a place whereit is talked about, if someone can point me in the right direction =) thank you in advance.

I watched the trans guy at the shop remove the tranny on my '04 3.9L. They disconnected the tranny links, connectors, and the mounts. (on a lift) and leaned the tranny downward to be able to access those bolts using a very long set of ratchet extensions. Do the top bolts first coming out, and last going in.

Ah cool, thank you.Did they get the top bolts from underneath, or above near the engine intake?

Removing the exhaust will not provide enough room for the servos?

No :( I have one servo out right now. Going to see if I can't move the trans to the driver side and get the other one out.

Just wanted to let you know, I finally got the servos replaced, shifts good now =)

I will be writing up some directions on how I did it, in case anyone ever needs to do this.
