I bought my car used in non running condition and need help with a few things

It backfires blue flames out of the intake and also has a severe knock in cylinder one from what i can tell, also what controls the firing order/ the coil packs? car is a 2000 v6 base model with 150K.

Car starts for 10-15 seconds and shuts off probably due to the knock or backfire any suggestions to fix this will be duly noted thanks guys :p

It backfires blue flames out of the intake
thats not a good for sure, your intake valves should not be open for flames to shoot out, i suspect a problem with the timing, not a good sign

and also has a severe knock in cylinder one from what i can tell
like pre detonation knock, or broken rod knock?

also what controls the firing order/ the coil packs?
no coil packs, just a single coil for every cylinder, the cars computer controls when the coil fires.

like a pre detonation/ stuck lifter maybe?

im not sure if the 6'er has the same timing chain problems that its bigger brother does, but i suppose i would maybe start there.

i cant imagine there being no CEL's, knowing those would definitely give you an idea of where to start.

the car should not be running to read the codes, you are just supposed to have the ignition on.

I'm guessing it needs to run for a bit before throwing a code. Maybe that's what the op is referring to, and not simply reading codes already stored.
