I have a 2006 LS V-8 and I have been following this forum for a while. When my LS started some weird overheating, I of course checked the forum. I would have normally ordered just a thermostat, but it was mentioned several times about the plastic housings cracking. I put an order in for the thermostat housing, cover, thermostat, o-rings, degas bottle and cap. I wanted to be prepared. I still couldnt find any leaks, but I believed the coolant was being blown out of the degas bottle. It must have been leaking out when driving. I finally got my parts and when I attempted to remove the thermostat cover, I noticed that it was being pushed off by the large thermostat spring. The two lugs that hold the thermostat to the cover failed (broke off) and my thermostat self destructed in the housing. The forums advice about the fragile housings saved me. Also it was an easy job bleeding the coolant thanks to the great instructions posted here.
My car has 138K miles on it so I will probably be visiting here for more advice in the future....just hope its not too soon.
Thanks again.

Welcome to the forum! Great post and I'm sure all the guys on here are praising you for searching the forum rather than asking for advice (they got on me all the time for that when I first started posting). When I had my LS, the guys on here were of great assistance and have a wealth of knowledge about these cars, so you're in the right place. I tell you, if it wasn't for some of the people on here when things went wrong with my LS, I wouldn't have a clue what to do, lol! Looking forward to seeing pics of your LS!

No AM radio

I guess now I can work on getting the rear tint changed so that my AM radio will work. Just bought this car for work and the AM hasn't worked since I got it.

Is the antenna connected? Check that the plug is connected; it is located to the right (as you look from inside) of the HMSL.

As to your screen name.... When I was in the Navy we did the OPEVAL on the Tarawa. Their stern gate was broken for a very, very long time! The design wasn't so good.....

The plug is connected. As for my screen name, it refers to the battle. Marine/Pacific War history buff here.

I always admired my friends black '02 LS and when I finally decided to sell my 1989 Ford F-150, I started looking for one. I wanted an '06, so when I saw this one on Ebay by a local dealer, I stopped by and bought it. Lots of miles, but a low price. It was a trade in at a local Toyota dealer. I love this car....so far. Let's hope t serves me as well as my F-150 did.

Looks like a nice Ultimate. I have been an LS owner/forum member going on 8 years now. Obviously I am a fan!

The car had 134k miles when I bought it. I paid $5900 inkluding tax,tag and title.

Loxahatchee, huh? Nice to see another Palm Beacher on here finally! That's a good price but high miles. Hopefully the last person took really good care of it. Did you buy that at Offlease Only?

Where is LHA-1 now? I used to take tours on her and CGN-9

i picked it up at Stewart Toyota. It was a trade-in. I dont think they did anything to it except maybe wash it. It looked as if the back seat and passenger side front seat were never sat in. Carpeting was the same. Engine compartment was spotless and not detailed. Must have been a salesman. It had a clean carfax for what its worth.
