Got my coilovers,pics

i am curious, how do you get it to work like that? i would think that if you leave the front sensors on, the computer would assume their height is ok and would just keep filling the rears when needed? am i wrong?

I tried that and it didn't work. Somehow it knew that there was no pressure on the front lines and it would not turn the compressor on.

SO, how is it you have air in your rear bags?

I'm considering purchasing a set of these coilovers, to use just for the front, while my new front air struts are built. The 4 wheel kit will be available here in about three months if I do this.. for anyone that might be interested in a slightly used kit, I'll only be using the fronts, and they'll be 'extra' lowered by about an inch.

Anyways,,,,,,

If I do this, How do I keep the C.A.R. message gone, while keeping the rear bags??

But how did you get it to work?
Does anyone know the height of the springs used in the conversion kits?

I am getting ready to do this to my Wifes car in a week or so and Im torn between the 1.5 lowering kit or the stock?

Also did the Bird stuff bolt right up? If so it may be a cheaper route, I can get them supercheap.

On the other hand considering the refund from your old components the kit may be cheaper. Any thoughts?

I am very curious at your ride hieght now since you have done the conversion with the 1.5 drop, if you wouldn't mind please mesure fron the ground to the center of the fenderwell on the front and rear.

I'm planning on going with the same kit you are but would like to know where the car is going to sit, I can duplicate this on my own as I have the Kale mod right now and can raise and lower the car at will.

Thanx, Jeff

I just left the air bags in the rear after convrting the front. I turned the compressor off by the switch in the trunk and the rear bags just held the air for a month or so untill I got a leak in one of the bags and it slowly brought the car down.

Same as above, it worked untill one of the bags leaked.

the t bird fronts are a direct bolt on, the rears are a little more tricky. There is no mount on the top of the chassis that keep the coils in place. You will need to weld something or put some sort of braket to hold the coil to the top of the chassis. T-bird parts are ALOT cheaper than the coil conversion kit. I got my struts and coils from the wrecking yard for about $15 each plus tax.

Nice, thanks for the info.

i have the 1.5" drop on mine, and mine measures 23 1/4 in the front, 22 1/2 in the rear, (bottom lip of wheel to top of wheel arch) had them for six months now, love it.......may be too low for some, you gotta be careful on driveways and whatnot, just go slow and take it an angle if you have to. Bumps are forbidden on my car now, too fast over one and when the front comes down itll bump the bottom of the car, go SLOW over the bumps if theres no other way.

Shoot my bags went out today and let's just say driving with the car slammed is not cool, especially when bottoming out real nasty. I plan on ordering lowered coils within the next few days. I'll probably go with american air though.

Thank you very much for the info, I'll go out and duplicate this ride hieght and see if this is where I want to be.

Again than you very much!

Sorry I havn't gotten back here but work has been hell, and when the sun goes down at 5 and I don't get home till like 7.. kinda hurts doing anything really productive or working outside not to mentionthe cold.

Anyways I bought mine through american air suspensions, they get there mark8 kits through strutmasters.

The ride height seems to be not too low.. I mean if your not careful you'll bttm out but when I sensor lowered my mark b4 all the problems the car sat lower.

1 thing I did find out tho with my car slammed was NOT to go slow over stuff liek speedbumps. I usedto take my car up to about 25 and go over it.. if I tried to crawl over it It'd come down too hard on my exhaust and always bttm out. Going fast meant that bythe time the car came down it;'d be back near the rear where the bags were still holding air. Also I have a whole exhaust system so it sits a tad more towardsthe ground than a stock system
