GOT IT STARTED!!! fuel pump stuck

so i went down to get the mark yesterday. I tried starting it and still just cranking. But I didn't hear the fuel pump turning on....so I tried smacking the gas tank a few times with my hands and vola it turned on and the car started....runs fine pump is quiet...what gives??? Was this just a fluke or is my pump going bad??

I would run the tank dry and then throw in a Walboro 255... you are living on borrowed time.... but I would try and run the tank dry for convenience, and to not waste money.
