Hey Now,
My 05' LS V8 got hit in the drivers side rear bumper. I don't know where/when this happened, so I will be paying the deductible for this. Sooo mad, there is red paint on my white car. Doesn't appear to be any damage to bumper, but it will definatly need painting. Anyone have idea what it will cost to have bumper painted w/ tri-coat paint? My deductible is 500, if I can do for that, I won't claim on insurance. Thanks.

Cost me about $6-700 to have my rear bumper painted with tri-coat paint at a very good shop. Maaco quoted at $500 but I didn't trust them with this type of paint, they rubbed me the wrong way.

Did you try to rub it out at all?

I got some paint scuffs out of my Highlander before. It was the last time I went to the City. White scuffs on black paint and it all came out but you could tell I had to rub it for a bit.

$500 is on the low - $800 is high. Depends if they take off the bumper and use a flex additive (a good shop will insist on taking it off and using the flex additive).

Whatever you do, do not try and do this yourself. Tri-coat paint is a bitch to paint and match to other body panels

Yeah I was able to get all the red paint off the bumper. Just glancing you can't tell it was hit, but I KNOW it was. There is definate scuff if you look. We are going on vacation, so I won't fix till I get back. But was lookin for a ballpark. No way would I try to do this myself, I'm not making my first try at painting on tri-coat paint. Thanks for the replies. Just figures, I finally got a car I LOVE and someone has to mess it up. That and the dings on the black strip between the windows, where morons opened their doors. Friggin only black on whole car and that is where it got scratched. Sighhhhh!!

Do you have the white pearl tri-coat?

Yeah I also have a tri-coat paint Ivory and I do not mess around with the paint. It is difficult to match.

Do you mean the pillars? Huh I never thought another door would be able to ding those.

Pillars yes. Big ding right in middle of windows. First thing I see every time I get in car. That HAS to go. lol

How the hell did that happen? Were you at a Monster truck rally?

Any way that sucks! Those things are a pain to keep free from water spots also.

I got hit a few months ago and had to pay for it, I should have had it done separate from ins. company because it cost $470 (out of 500 deduct). Was a nice long crack about 5" and in 3 rows.
