I am going to look at an LS tomorrrow. Is there anything LS specific I should look for? Here is the info:

01 LS in great condition, new trans install 7k miles ago, vehicle has 113k, newer tires, v6, automatic trans, chrome wheels-

ask if the valve cover gaskets have ever been changed.... if course check the engine oil and so on....

Yeah, look for one with a V-8 :p

I almost bought a v-6 one and I am thankful I didn't! Just because I like performance, well pseudo performance. lol

:) depending on your budget, look for 03+.. i have a 2000 and an 04 and even though i love the 2000 i would always pick the 04. the 03+ are much nicer and the economy sucks big ones so they are fairly cheap. i sell u mine for 6500.

x2 on the V8, same fuel economy and less power on the V6 model. If at all possible try to hold out for an 03 up, the prices shouldn't be that bad right now. Good luck.

You really can't make up your mind can you... lol

I can make up my mind just fine. Shes the one that wishy washy.

We are looking to spend less than $5500, so our selection is kind of limited. (see the "should i" post in the mark viii section)

The half shafts and valve cover gaskets are a V8 issue. The gaskets will need to be replaced because of the mileage; they will leak over time. I would still look for a V8. The mileage on the 6 (~1mpg) just doesn't justify the lower power.

Well we didnt end up looking at it. I talked to him once and everything was a go, then I called him later and no answer. Oh well.

I dont know about the V6 hurting on power.. yea numbers wise but i think a 5 speed V6 would be fricken awesome.... You know.. did they make the gen 2 a v6 5 speed?????

Not in the USA. Maybe Canada; but then you have other issues.

These modern, highly electrically controlled cars aren't like the old days; drop in a new gauge cluster and off you go; remove the engine and reattach the linkage and off you go; get a new bell housing throw on a manual and off you go. Not so anymore.

i know all about the V6 hurting on power, looking back, the lady that ran the red light and destroyed my baby actually did me a favor

a 5-speed may help, but this is just too big of a car to have such a small motor (no i am not talking about the 3.9)
