Taking the Mark VIII to Englishtown Raceway Park tonight! Sorry for the late notice for those that would have liked to join me.

Weather looks perfect for racing, mid-40's. I just changed the plugs today (autolite 764's), I'm running the right gas, I have the right amout of gas (below 1/4 tank), I just changed the filter to a K&N panel air filter, and took the spare out. My previous best in this car is 14.4, I think I can get a 14.3 out of her.

The only mod on the car is the LMS cat-back exhaust.

If anybody wants to or can join me with the late notice, come on out!!

i was gonna head over there, but it loos like rain. Lets get a date on the calendar so a few guys can show up.

The forecast was rain, but it didn't rain until much later. NOBODY was at the track, which was awesome, no waiting around!!

My times sucked. My best run - 14.573 @ 91.88, obviously something wrong on the top end.

It was all the 2-3 shift.

I didn't realize (and nobody on any of the Mark VIII boards pointed out), when you run 245/50 16 tires on an LSC geared car, you HAVE to shift into 3rd through the 1/4. I can't believe nobody pointed this out in any post about 245's on stock rims?! :( I have always held 2nd gear in both my Marks through the 1/4 with stock tire sizes.

Anyway, for some reason my 2-3 shift was messed up. The 2-3 shift would not happen at WOT. The car would just bang off the rev limiter and not shift?! In all of 5 of my passes the same thing. A WOT 2-3 shift has never worked right in this car and never worked for the last 100k miles of my 93 Mark. I never really worried about it before, because 1st that is around 100mph and 2nd if I was at the drag strip I didn't need 3rd with stock tires to finish the 1/4.

On the way home I think my car fixed itself, or learned how to do a 2-3 shift at WOT. I basically let the car bang off the rev limiter in 2nd at WOT until it finally shifted. It took about 5-6 hits off the rev limiter.....I'm sure this is great for the car. :( Anyway, it did finally shift, at ~6,500, and after a bunch of other runs on the street, it now shifts fine at WOT from 2-3 at ~6,500 rpm's. It's almost like the car learned how to do a 2-3 WOT shift.

Now I have to go back to the track and see what she'll run going into 3rd properly.

Sorry for the long winded story.

Ken
