Glove Box Problem, need help fast

Hey guys, today I opened my glove box, and to my surpise it flew open all the way to the floor, two pieces came shooting out. One, well, looks like a black plastic nipple, and the other is a small metal cylinder that fit inside the uh, nipple. My question is, what is the mechanism or bumper that stops the glove box at a certain point, I can't find anything. Thanks.

its a string... one end on the glove box door, and the other end is somewhere around or behind the glove box.... mine also broke and i cannot find where the string connects to... does anyone know? .. and if possible take a pic

I think there's a small white box with a hole in it where the string goes, my problem is that I can't find the string, does anyone know where I can get a replacement string?
