Gen II fan question??

Hello all,

I have been busy restoring my fastback and driving my 98 trouble free but now I am starting to have issues with my beloved Mark VIII. My cooling fan locked up tighter than Dicks hat band and caused me to overheat First time that has ever happened.

Quick question. Is the Gen I fan the same as a Gen II cooling fan? My neighbor has a Gen I that he is parting out and I could pick up the fan for little or nothing if it is the same. Please advise.

not sure but there is a good chance it is, put it on and turn on the ac and the fan should come on

I believe that it should interchange. There were actually 3 different part numbers for the MKVIII fan, but it was due to a blade pitch change on the 97 and then again on the 98. If in the event the shroud wont fit, I"m sure the motor and fan blad will.

A replacement fan motor goes for around $100 at Rock auto. I agree with AHD, if you can get the parts cheap enough, at least you can swap housings.
