Will a Gen 2 steering wheel fit a gen 1? I like the air bag cover on the Gen 2's plus I have been searching for a wood grain wheel and since I found some Gen 2's which of course have both the air bag cover and the wood grain Im looking for I was wondering if I could swap out the whole wheel.

Dont they have different controls?

the steering wheel controls on my 2nd gen are the same as they where on my 1st gen

How about any wiring like the controls and air bag? I never took my wheel apart so I dont even know what it looks like under that cover. I just get a rough idea from the crappy pics on e-bay:D

yes they will interchange. I have a second gen steering wheel on my first gen. The only differences are the steering wheel control electrical plugs. e

Whoo hoo! Thanks! I found one dirt cheap at LKQ. Was it easy to do the wiring?

Could I just swap out connectors and be done with it?

Wiring is easy. Just unscrew the old controls and wires from your existing first gen and screw them onto the new steering wheel.

steps:
unplug controls from car, unscrew and remove controls from old wheel, screw controls onto new wheel, and plug back into car. that's it. You do not need to solder any wires. very easy. I'd be more detailed but I don't really need to be.

Cool, I just thought that the controls were different on the 2nd gens cause of the navi or something.

Gen II with navigation has slightly different steering wheel buttons than Gen II without navigation.

Oh ok, if this wheel dont work out at least I do know that the one without Nav will. I'll have to just have to drive up to LKQ and look at it.

Thanks for that heads up.

.

I like the center cap like thingy:D

Ahh, I see. I wonder if you could get a center cap off of a wheel (chrome) and glue it in there. :p

that might hurt a little bit if the airbag goes off and inserts a centercap into your face at 200 MPH
