The gen 2 has the ebrake that is just the button for set or release. what actually actuates the brake cable and where is it located? I have a gen 1 and am in the process of putting a gen 2 console in it and was wondering about the ebrake setup??

I think it's in the trunk on the side. It's a motorized assembly that pulls the brake cable. I don't think you will find it practical to add to gen 1. It's electronics use the CAN bus to talk to the rest of the car, and it has to know what the rest of the car is doing. At the very least, it knows what gear is selected, if you are pressing on the brake pedal, and if you are pressing on the accelerator.

The parking brake electronic module is in the trunk and the actuator I think is under the car by the rear axle. But your GenI will have neither of those.
