Gen 2 door on gen1???

sorry, i know i have seen it mentioned before, but i tried the search and came up short,

can Gen 2 doors be directly fitted to a gen 1? not worried about auto mirror tilt or puddle lights at this point, just want to replace my rusted gen 1 door, and found a nice gen 2 door.

It will fit. However, you have to swap the complete wiring harness.

The door shell is interchangeable between all years.

Door harness is part of the body harness, so it has to be swapped over regardless of what door you use.

Also, the inner door handle has to be drilled out and swapped over as it won't fit to the curve of the door panel cup.

This is one of the fix I am working on now.

It fits. My Gen 1 is getting a donor Gen 2 door
and a whole Gen 2 donor interior.

Because the doors will be using the same Gen 2 interior
panels, I am splicing the wires together with the Gen 1 accordingly.

.....I know....pics or it didn't happen. But you all know me. I am a picture whore
so its coming soon.
