Hey guys, i just had some transmission work done and im not sure if they messed something up w/ my battery or the computer but after the car has been sitting for a little, when i start it up my gauges (tach and speedo) go all the way up and then back. Any body know what this means? sorry in advance for not searching :shifty:

they called this a "sweep" at the dealership when it happened to me. did you get any other lights? for example; check advance track, cheak traction control, airbag light or the traction control symbol? if so, it may be your alternator or a dead battery. when this happened to me i got my battery checked for free at advance auto parts and it was good. it ended up being my alternator.

It might be the alternator because it is making a whining noise like posted in another thread recently. My cruise control hasnt been working either, could the alt cause that too? or could that be clockspring related?

Isn't that basically a reboot of the gauges after a power loss? I know my wife's Aviator will do that too after I disconnect the battery. If it does it on you all the time, I wonder if you haven't lost a power feed somewhere. It might not hurt to check ALL the fuses in the car...in all the fuse boxes.
