Ok, I have gone to white gauges. I took the needles off to take pics and measurements and see if I could find someone to make some in a different color. I put the needles back on, and now they are all hosed up. Tach and speedo don't move and the temp and gas are even close. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am going out now to take the ground off the battery to see if it will reset everything. :(

Heck no, lol. Came right out with the steering wheel all the way forward and down. Everything came out with ease. I'm at a loss.

did you remove the entire cluster first... are you sure you plugged everything back in??

Just tried removing the negative on the battery. No go on that. Will work on it more tomorrow.

Ok I figured out what I need to do. Anyone know what the actual idle rpm is for Gen I. My car sat at around 900 or a little above, so that will be fairly simple. Gas gauge will be easy too since we have digital readout anyway. I'll just fill up my tank. Temp gauge is easy too. Anyone know what rpm a Gen I sits at doing 55mph? That would be a big help. Won't be able to fix until Sunday when my wife gets back from a business trip to DC, so until then feel free to reply with what ever help you can.

Hrm if I had a gen 1 I would confirm for you. My Gen 2 idles around 7-800 and 55 is around 1800 I believe....

What are u trying to do.... Is it working.

I have to manually set the the needles. It hit me after I was thinking about what I did when I changed the gauges and needles on my MKIII Supra. I totally brain farted on this. I should have written down RPMs and MPH at 1k, 2k, 3k, etc, etc, would have made life so much easier. I can do it now, but it's going to be time consuming without numbers. That's why I ask for Gen I idle RPM and and 55mph rpm. Once idle is set I can set the speedo at 55 minus whatever it reads at that point. I just need for someone to do a little leg work to get the readings. Gen II can't do it because the gearing is different. Who wouldn't want to go out on this beautiful Saturday? :D

Now this is funny. I called a few Lincoln dealers to see if I could get the bulb #s for the instrument cluster, and they only have a part number. They can't say what bulb number it is. Anyone know off the top of their head what bulb number the replacements are? I had Advance Auto Parts tell me that they "thought" it was 161 and 191, but are not sure. It gets frustrating when Ford won't even give you a number.

Could someone be kind enough to go out and take a quick drive and give me the rpm at 55mph. I'll have everything done except for the speedo. I'd really appreciate it. Gen I only please.

Can someone please go out and do the above? This is the last thing I need so I can put the LS back together.

The GPS I have in my CRV is always off by a few MPH. A Gen I on cruise control at 55 can give an actual number. I'd rather be as close as possible. The state troopers around here like to harass people as much as possible. It's Sunday anyways. A nice Sunday drive and I'll have it fixed. You'd hate to see a pic of my interior, lol. It's torn apart. Everything is off the dash as well. Getting a count for bulbs to for LEDs. Getting rid of that hideous green.

Can't you just figure it out mathematically? You know the rear gear and 5th gear values, right?

I got 1748. That doesn't seem right.

EDIT: I did rpm to mph with 3.31 rear/.75 final/26.25 tire height @ 1748 and got 55.01, so I guess it is correct. Hmmm well thanks for the links.
