just picked up something to eat at wendy's and i pull up beside a red trans am... i wanted to just play around.. so when the light turned green i gassed it enough to leave him behind... not all the way to floor... so i merged off to get back on I-55,and he followed.... I tried to down shift but at the worst time i could not, so i had to stay in 2nd, until i passed the car in front of me... so as soon as I got onto interstate , he gets in left lane and passes me, stuck behind the same car.. so i got over and held onto my gears as long as i could....i didnt catch him but he stayed the same distance ahead of me , til 130+mph and a car got infront of him so i passed and got off my exit , heading to my dorm... I know i was probably out my league but it was fun,, would have ben better if i could have gotten into 1st gear...his car didnt seem to be modded and a automatic....

Depending on the year of the TA you probably had a chance especially if it was a 3rd Gen. I don't think many of them put out much power from the factory.
I had a 3rd Gen Camaro 1990 and it only put out 170hp, but it did have 255ftlbs of torque. I'm sure alot had to do with the terrible fuel injnection it had. The TPI cars surely made more power vs the TBI. Still, the car was great at burnouts lol

like King03 said, obviously these things arent built to be race cars, but it still blows my mind how hard the LS's catch second! I lined up against a few friends just to see what the LS could do and everyone kept asking if I had an upgraded shift kit.
