Hey guys
Took my 98 lsc for a drive yesterday and i started getting a really bad fuel smell.
No engine light, car runs and drives fine, no leaks anywhere, no smell when first started, happens when driven for a bit.
I have read it is a common issue and has to do with a vapor line from the rear near the evap tray.
The smell is most powerful on the drivers side near the side of the fuel tank.
Is this smell because of a faulty part like the vent valve or is it a broken line?
Looking for some clarity on a fix for this, grabbing a line and pulling then installing a zip tie just isn't enough info.
Need to know what line exactly, why it causes the smell and what zip tying the line to the rear bumper does.
Any info is appreciated.

Check all evap stuff. Normally with this problem people say it's the one in the passenger fender

Passenger side fire wall has vac lines going threw to the AC heat controller. If the AC controller is working at directing vent air, the vac line off the manifold would normally be fine. Sounds to me like your Evap system is blocked up. This is typically what you get when the car's gas tank is extra, extra topped off past the auto shut off of the gas station pump dispenser handle. When gas feeds into the gas tank vent line, it expands the Evap canister filtering media and causes a non venting problem. Fumes have to go some where and if your gas cap cant handle the extra tank pressure, you get a snute full at some point.

Ya, not that stuff, don't even think on a 98 there is any of that in the fender well. Smell comes from the left rear area.
