Causes
Potential causes of a P0232 code include:
Bad FP relay
Short to voltage on FP voltage supply circuit or feedback circuit
Short to ground on PCM
FP relay control circuit PCM
FP relay control driver shorted to ground internally

it didn't say fuel pump. why do you believe you need a fuel pump? looks like you may need a FPDM or something.
and you must have a 96? how else could you get obd2 codes out of a gen 1.
yes it is a 96. I have never had this code until I installed a 255.

No i did not reverse the polarity. It was a straight plug in.
On a side note. What are the best O2 sensors to use?
Avoid Bosch O2 sensors.
