Is there anything you need to do, to put a 255LPH pump in a gen1? Iam getting a p0232. Please help.

i googled p0232.

http://www.obd-codes.com/p0232

it said:

Causes
Potential causes of a P0232 code include:

Bad FP relay
Short to voltage on FP voltage supply circuit or feedback circuit
Short to ground on PCM
FP relay control circuit PCM
FP relay control driver shorted to ground internally

it didn't say fuel pump. why do you believe you need a fuel pump? looks like you may need a FPDM or something.

and you must have a 96? how else could you get obd2 codes out of a gen 1.

Did you reverse the polarity, or was that not necessary?

When I had my 96, I installed a 255 without much issues - except for being sent some wrong parts and deciding never to buy from Blue Oval or where ever I did again.

But no errors, etc.

yes it is a 96. I have never had this code until I installed a 255.

Dumb question because i don't know how much of the 96 was gen2 but i know the 255 pump will have issues in the gen2 because of the fpdm being variable voltage. Does the 96 have a fpdm?

You dont reverse polarity
Just colors look wrong

Also plenty of people have run a w/255 with no problems but some have thats why i ran a focus pump.

No i did not reverse the polarity. It was a straight plug in.
On a side note. What are the best O2 sensors to use?

Seeing as they're such a pain on this car, I would just go with Motorcraft. 40 something dollars a piece on Amazon.

The only fuel pumps that may have a problem, are the gerotor type. Turbine types should not have a problem. Markviii pumps are turbine type.
