98 Mk VIII has been running bad after warm up (10-20 miles) stalling at stops. No power passing. Even taking off from stop. Tested fuel pressure at rail. Getting 28# idle, 34# w/out reg. connected. Tested reg. with Mityvac... works OK. Taped FP gauge to windshield and drove around.
Pressure drops to teens /single digits and hesitates when accelerating. Guess I found the problem. Just as many others here have, too.
Now what's the deal? Fuel pump deal? After reading about a hundred posts from different forums seems people just say get a Focus SVT...Walbro 255... just get a 190 !!!
But nobody can post a part number, price and dealer name from an invoice maybe to help others out? Is there anyone out there that has actually replaced the pump and has info with part # and dealer and is satisfied with results?

I ordered mine from summit racing...but you can find them cheaper. I ordered the bbk racing pump wich is made by walbro, so either are good. Just look for a 96-98 cobra. All you need is the pump itself because all of the cobra stuff that comes in a kit you won't need. Some times you can get them cheap off ebay. Otherwise the summit/bbk number is BBK-1622. You should also realize that you have to modify the fuel bucket to get this pump to work. It has been 3 years or so since i did it and can't remember exactly, but do a search and you can find lots of info. I remeber that i cut down the cover to the fuel bucket because the pump is just a little longer, but I don't remember if that was all that I had to do. Another thing to remeber is that the first and second gen have diferent fuel buckets, so instructions for the 96-96 might not be exact. Hope some of this helps. It's really not that bad once you get the bucket out of the tank-just a little tinkering and making do.
