I have an 02 Lincoln LSE V8, and heres what happened. I had about 20 miles left so I went to the gas station. I filled up the car to almost half way. After starting the car, the fuel arrow went up, but the computer still showed 20 miles. I continued to drive until it went down to 0 miles, but the arrow still shows that I have gas!!! How do I fix the incorrect computer display?

Try unplugging the positive terminal on the battery for like 20 mins to reset the computer, maybe that'll work.

my gauge is off by about 40 miles of gas. Sometimes you need to start it up a few times and it goes back to normal. I would get it checked out tho, it could cost yah some $$$ problems with gas.

i agree, try and reset it. then i would try undoing the battery. otherwise, it doesn't sound like too much of a problem.

Well after 2 days of showing 0 miles, I started her up today, and it went back to normal by it self. Kinda weird, I wonder why it did that, oh well, thanks for the input guys!

I have had that happen before, I was getting like 16-17 from running around town for a couple days, then got on the freeway for a while. I had 0 miles to empty, but like a 1/4 tank left. The miles to empty is calculated from the average mpg versus how much fuel you have left.

My 2004 LS had the fuel level sensor replaced a few months ago. Mine had similar symptoms and sometimes made the miles to empty reading show an error message. It was getting stuck near zero and sometimes near 3/4. If I drove from 3/4 to empty the computer displayed an error but I knew I had maybe a 1/4 tank left.
