Its about that time to change mine and I was wondering if anyone had opinions on brands or is it one of these all things created equal deals?

you cant beat OEM. but Purolator and Wix are probably the two best ones. i hear people tell me to stay away from Fram. hope this helps.

I'm using an Aeromotive billet filter with a stainless steel mesh filter. Available from Summit.

cammerfe, Im interested to know more about this. Can you post a link? I went on summit and all I see for the LS is Motorcraft and ACdelco.

I'm assuming its something you found a way around applying.

OEM worked fine for me for the first 75k miles. Why tamper with success.

I will warn that Wix 33595 does not fit even though their application guide says it does.

Thanks for sharing that.

It really shouldnt matter much but Im just real anal about gas anymore. I know with the cost these days some people dont really take the greatest care of what they have stored at the pump so I dont want some junk filter that will clog fast or even worst let loose loads of dirt into my injectors.

Untill I hear back on that Billet filter so far its between OE and Purolator.

I don't have a catalog here handy. You'll find that the one I'm referring to is a generic filter with machined -8 ends. I simply put hose barbs on both ends and clamped it in place. Cost $30-$40.

J you don't need no damn billet fuel filter. Unless you are running a custom fuel system then there is just no need for one. Going with a billet fuel filter will not gain you power and it is not like you can see it for its good looks so it is not worth it in your LS at all.

Guys getting a replacement fuel filter is not exactly rocket science so don't make it into that.

The OEM replacement part # is F89Z9155A and goes for around $17.89

Cammer, a warning for you man. That stainless filter element you are using is a 100 micron element. That is a good as a pre-pump filter but just does not keep enough crap out for use as a post pump (or overall) filter. You should really switch to the 10 micron paper filter element to have proper filtration for your fuel system.

Thanks ILLS!:)

I knew I wouldnt want something like that, I was just really interested to know something new.

I figgured since I never saw anything about something like that for the LS I thought I would inquire on just a "Need To Know Basis" if you would.

Im not looking for any over all HP gain type of performance.... or looks, I would just like a filter that performs well at what its supposed to do thats all and if it lowers pressure by just a hair so what,... at least I know my injectors arent gunked up all the time. Like I said I am just anal about todays gas,... I just dumped money into my Highlander last week to get injectors fixed and well the shop ( not stealership ) suggested bad or dirty gas.

I think its the OE one for me.

Actually, it came with a 40. And, as you note, they offer a 10 as a replacement. I simply offered an answer to a question. What works for me may not be best for you. 'You pays your money and makes your choice'.

Hey Ken I didn't mean to come off as a jerk if I did. You must remember that your situation is a unique one when it comes to mods made to your LS. I suggest that you keep that in mind when people request advice on what parts to go with. After all, when people ask what fuel pump works best in the LS I refrain from mentioning that I am running a GT supercar pump and that is what "works for me". The reason for this is because I know it does not apply to what they are probably looking for; so why take a chance of mentioning it and getting that person even more confused. I suppose if there was any point I was trying to make with my moderately strong words it was that. I hope you guys understand that I am not trying to be the "mod police" over here, just looking out for the newer guys when I can.

I installed a WIX 33595 on my car 6 months ago. Went on fine for me.
Perhaps you ordered the part for the wrong year vehicle?
2000 - 2002 V8 uses 33595, 2000 - 2004 V6 uses PN: 33595.
2003 - 2006 V8, and 2005 V6 uses Wix PN: 33243.

Yeah, I have a 2006. I didn't know it was different for different years. I came across an auction for a 33595 cheap, so I checked the Wix website and it only says
LINCOLN LS V6 3.0L 182 CID
LINCOLN LS V8 3.9L 242 CID

nothing about year. Anyway good to know that 33595 works for Gen I.

No offence taken. I have 120K miles on my '02 at present. Either trade every two years or keep it forever. This'ns a keeper so I look for 'buy it once and never again' when I can. I bought the best available stock duplicate the first time and had an almost immediate fuel problem. With the billet filter, I can simply unscrew one end and have a complete look at the contents. It works for me!
