My front License plate holder is barely hanging on... I wish I could just rip it off and plug the holes... but I figure there's a law against that... what would you do to fix it?... the holder itself is in bad shape... and there's only two plugs holding it... I would like to replace it... would a generic one work?

I couldn't get a generic one to fit my 96. I ended up fixing up the old one and buying 4 new body clips and pushing it back in. Any body clips large enough should hold. I used four of the Christmas tree style.

Am missing mine too, have the plate held in with screws into the bumper cover. Looks dumb, but also have to source a plate holder.

Will a Cougar/Tbird holder work? They look very similar, but I don't want to take my Cougar one off, cause it's also held on by screws after Ford's clips broke.

Believe it or not, there are still some available from FLM dealers. Even some in prepainted colors. Please be sitting down when pricing.

I love Florida! No front license plate required! The '93 I had came with one that was in piss-poor shape. Always intended to rip it off, but a traffic collision turned the issue moot. My '96 LSC didn't come with one, and I thank God for that every time I look at the front bumper. Those things are fugly when they don't have a plate on them, and even if I'd had a plate in there I think it would still look a lot better without.

Hi Matt...
The 94-96 front plate bracket is a F3LY-17A385-K (black paint) $109.23 retail and LVC is $78.65.
97-98 in paint to match is a F7LZ-17A385-XXPTM list is $51.82 and LVC is $37.31 They are NOT interchangeable.

Damn why do those bunny nose Gen IIs get a cheaper plate...

They can sit on Ford's parts shelf and rot for $109 - I'll MAKE something else fit before I shell out any coin like that .
