Any way to do this? One thing I miss about my old hatch was keeping a bag of goodies, or a cooler in the back for the kids. They could reach over the seat and get whatever they wanted.

It would be nice if they could open the seats while inside for similar purposes.

Is it dooable?

Yes, but I don't know how safe it would be. You could somehow cover the hole where the top of the seat locks in to the rear deck with something slim. That would give the illusion that the seat was fully seated but you could still pop it down from the inside. However if you had passengers in the rear seat, this might not be very safe since the whole seat would move forward in a crash.

Yeah, that sounds like it would be a bit dangerous if hauling cargo. I'd really like for my kids to be able to sit in the left seat, and pull a latch to let down the right seat if they wanted.

You could relocate the release into the passenger compartment, or rig a solenoid to release it from inside the cabin. Maybe you could rig a pulley and cable that could be used to operate the latch release, then run the cable between the seat back sections.

As the car was delivered from the factory, there's no way to do it, though.

Pully and cable ? LOL... Any shaved door lock solonoid will work fine.... Average ones pull with about 35 lbs of force, just rig a bracket, and hook the cable up to it, and wire it to a switch inside.... They're tiny, run on 12 volts already, and are made to take abuse, rattling and heat, they'll serve that purpose just fine....

something like this would work just fine
