Hello everyone.
I joined LVS today because I've found lots of good advise here.
However, I have not found much on the following subject, and I would like to see if anyone can help.
I purchased a 2001 LS 3.9L two months ago. Shortly after buying it, the check engine light came on. I scanned it and got several codes, one being P0455. This made sense because the car was telling me the gas cap was off. So easy fix, right? I bought a new cap, cleared the codes and drove it for a while to see if it would come back. Unfortunately, the check engine light came back on and this time it was an O2 code, or Catalytic code. I took it and had the cats replaced (previous owner had knocked them out) but did not change the O2s. Drove it for a week, no light, yes! Then the light come back on! This time it was a bad #5 C.O.P. I got that fixed and now the light is back!!!! This car is driving me crazy (and getting to be quite expensive). I scanned it again, and I got the P0455 back and the P0153 code.
The P0455 code seems a bit more complex. Should I go ahead and change the O2 first? Could that possibly get rid of both codes? Could it be another coil? One other notable thing is I have a rich fuel smell on the initial start. Could that be a significant thing?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
